Anastasia Tompkins likes to say she picked up a camera 20 years ago and hasn't put it down since. Her photographs often have an original twist and dramatic story to tell. She grew up in Paris and has traveled extensively, thus affording her the opportunity to work on a number of photographic projects including her Montages. A series of photographs taking travel photography to new limits. Flowers shower her images with color, grace and a sense of purpose. Some popular locations include, NY, London, Venice, Paris, Cape Cod and San Francisco. Her contemporary PhotoArt is also part of many private, as well as corporate collections, in both the USA and Europe. Ms. Tompkins has raised money for The American Cancer Society, The US Coast Guard and FOOD P.A.T.C.H. with proceeds from the sale of her art work.
In her previous life, Anastasia was an advertising sales executive with publications such as The New York Times, Art & Auction Magazine and The Sierra Club. In 1992, Ms. Tompkins moved to Westchester County, NY and decided to devote all her creative efforts to her career as a photographer. Her images can be seen in galleries, businesses, restaurants and juried Fine Art shows.
Anastasia also enjoys judging photography competitions, and is herself, a salon level competition photographer with both the Westchester Photographic Society and the NY Botanical and Zoologial Photographic Society. Ms. Tompkins served for many year on the Board of Directors of WPS and held the positions of Exhibits Chair and Editor-in-Chief of In Focus, their official newsletter. Her images have won many awards, including The Harry Hoffman Award of Photography and most recently, the Tony Gezirjian Award of Excellence in Digital Photography.
Ms. Tompkins works as a freelance photographer/graphic designer.
